In addition to e-fuels, synthetic methanol is also a promising product that we can produce with our automated plants. From biogenic CO2 and renewable hydrogen, for example, a climate-friendly alternative to fossil-based methanol is produced via various process routes in the publicly funded #E4Mewi and #3DProcess and #H2Mare projects.
The synthetic methanol is then used as a fuel or as a chemical feedstock. As an energy source, its use can make various transport sectors such as shipping climate-neutral. Particularly in the chemical industry, methanol is a widely used synthesis raw material that has so far been obtained from fossil sources.
Germany’s multifaceted research funding enables innovative companies to serve the interests of industry in this way and to identify new, sustainable paths.
